There is a law in Sweden stating that cows must be allowed to go outdoors a few hours a day during the summer months. Depending on the weather they are usually let out in the beginning of May, but giving our beautiful conditions right now our neighbours let theirs out yesterday.
Since the cows usually do some pretty exciting jumps of joy as they get to go out for the first time every year it can be quite a good show. Hence the crowd. And about the law. I think it’s good. According to some farmers the cows produce a bit less milk while they are outdoors and the handling of them get’s a little bit harder. But that’s very marginal so to me the upside is bigger. The life of the cow would get a bit better and it makes the countryside more alive seeing some animals out on the fields.
