One of the best things with the Swedish culture is Fika. Having Fika means coffee break, preferably with a cookie or pastry. In America, good Fika is hard to come by. You might find a descent coffee place when you are out on town? Starbucks ain’t too bad. But still, nothing like fika. A real fika should be at someones house or in someones garden. Most Scandinavian cafe’s knows this and are therefor decorated like someones home.
In America, it’s not very much like having fika at someones home. It’s more industrial. That said, I love that style coffee breaks too, like the one below, but a real fika remains my favourite.
